2006-10-24 [iippo]: There isn't really any need, because the deadline is not measured in the amount of contestants. And when people submit new entries, the watchers will look at the bottom of the list, so it'll be more likely that people won't see the entry you use to replace your placeholder. It's better that new work goes to the end of the list.
That said, you are welcome to put a "placeholder" that fits the rules (=piece that looks finished) and replace it later with another version. But don't submit an unfinished piece or a work in progress.

2006-10-26 [Calico Tiger]: To [eyes of frost]: from the rules page for the contest "drawings must be well shaded and/or coloured and have some type of background". So no, it doesn't have to be colored, but it should have some kind of shading at least (pencils is fine) :D

2006-10-29 [H3_six]: : D You know what I mean though, if pressed it could be described as an anthro. The problem is that 'mainstream' is difficult to define. To me it could mean three things. Mainstream in the broader public context, mainstream in the fantasy community or mainstream in the Elftown community. I think it is the second one, which means that the number of fantasy races included is at least greatly increased, from elves and fairies and the such. Although I'm not entirely sure, I think I'm confusing myself...

2006-11-17 [Yuriona]: Ah, you mean a tablet. I got one Christmas 2004 because I was getting carpal tunnel syndrome from all the mouse work I was doing! T_T I hope you get one too! They're awesome once you get used to them. I never got the hang of colouring other than digital colouring though. My prismacolours dislike me immensely.
2006-11-17 [Moonlit Serenade]: I have a tablet, but I just don't use it anymore. I don't know why. I got a laptop with a touch pad, which I originally hated, and now I love it. I get a lot of control with it. ^_^ I do most of my main colouring with prismacolours, though. I love them, too. <3

2006-11-17 [Kuehne]: personally.. i like getting "dirty".. I like getting the grey stain of charcoal and graphite on my fingertips as I smooth out the shading. I don't know.. perhaps it's a form of relaxation.
2006-11-17 [Sungmina]: lol true, I just always get so dirty with drawing and painting, and then you have to buy more pencils and paints haha, maybe I'm too prissy, but I do love the painterly effect of a lot of computer programs, it's really becoming much like traditional sketching and painting in a lot of aspects!
